Our Trustees
Alison Reed
Chair of the trustees
Alison is the mother of one of our clients. Alison has a background in nursing and, subsequently, sports’ health care. She held the position as Chair of Governors of a local secondary school for 5 years.
In October 2016 she set up her own Charity (Down Syndrome Swimming Great Britain) and remains Trustee and Committee member of this organisation.
Alison has is an Inclusion Trainer and worked as an advocate for parents in the London Borough of Richmond upon Thames, supporting young people through their mainstream education.
She is keen to tackle discrimination through her own and others’ behaviours, language, attitudes, conscious and unconscious bias and actions, thus supporting her work with Absolute Support Leading Light.
Heather Pelier
Trustee
Heather Pelier had had a house in Teddington for over 10 years, where she lives today with her French husband and dog. She has two boys in their twenties, the eldest now works and her youngest is in final year at university. She has worked in the consumer healthcare industry for over 20 years, mainly in marketing products to consumers and more recently to healthcare professionals. During this time she has lived and worked in France and the UK, also spending 9 years living and working in Asia, in Singapore, Thailand and the Philippines. With more time on her hands, with her sons having left home, she wanted to help support the local community offering her experience. She was therefore delighted to join ASLL as a Trustee in April 2021, having known one of the parents and clients over a number of years.
Susanne Morris
Treasurer of Absolute Support Leading Light
Susanne joined the Trustees in April 2023 and became Treasurer in October, taking over from Chris Lloyd. She has years of experience of working in Administration, Accounts and HR and was secretary of the Friends of Strathmore School.
Susanne is the parent of one of the people we support. She strongly believes that the people ASLL support should be celebrated for their abilities and achievements. They should be encouraged to do as much as they can and not be held back by labels.
Susanne has enjoyed volunteering with local charities, raising awareness of the abilities of those with learning disabilities and fund-raising with the Can-Do Crew. The crew were very much part of the local community, running stalls at fetes, and catering for parties and charity functions.
The London Borough of Richmond is a great place to live, a friendly community full of social opportunities for the people ASLL support. Susanne recognises the importance of this and is proud of our staff for ensuring friendships thrive, supporting everyone ASLL supports to have a full social life.
